I looked around on the filesystem as root to see where the Virtual DSM I created was housed, but all I could find was the docker containers for the document viewer docker containers.Īny idea on either (a) a way to run DSM on Amazon EC2 or (b) the location of the "Virtual DSM" image it is using for these VMs?Īs a side note, I'm not just trying to get something for free or screw over Synology, I own hardware and would be happy to purchase more and throw it away or license the software. When I installed the 6.0 beta at home and saw how the "Virtual DSM" part worked I realized it was what I was talking about, all the DSM apps and management without the raid management part. I know you can run Xpenology in VmWare and other things like that, but with that boot disk thing I don't think I can get it to run there since EC2 doesn't let you mount virtual CDs to instances.
It would be so nice to be able to run this minus the NAS part for my company in EC2. I'm just going to put this out there, for home I love my Diskstation.Īt work, we really don't need NAS because all our infrastructure is in AWS, but I really like the UI Synology puts on for things like LDAP, RADIUS, VPN server, etc.
